Immunotherapy has been an evolving treatment for oncology patients because unlike chemotherapy, it does not harm healthy cells. Immunotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that boosts the body's natural defenses to fight cancer. Through research, new immunotherapy treatments are being tested and approved. Dr. Carrillo, a neuro-oncologist at Hoag Hospital (Newport Beach, CA) will review the role of immunotherapy in oncology patients and ground-breaking clinical research that targets brain cancer with potential to treat other cancers as well.
