MECHANICS OF R&R AND BLUES CHORD PROGRES

MECHANICS OF R&R AND BLUES CHORD PROGRESSIONS
SC 205
Format B

This class will introduce the basics of many familiar chord progressions and apply the concept to rock and roll and blues music. A chord progression represents a fundamental structure that supports and even defines a piece of music. Emotions such as sadness, happiness, fear and love can be expressed using the exact same chord progressions. Music’s connection to sound via progressions, and how chords can be organized (like harmony) will be explained and exemplified.

Presenter: David Larue is a geologist and musician. He has taught previous OLLI classes on geology, but also has a background in garage band music, and has performed publicly hundreds of times. He is very passionate about his teaching!
