April 5 (A): The Tango and the Music of Piazzolla. Exploration of the history behind the tango, the difference between salon tango and tango nuevo, and Piazzolla and his music.

Developer/Presenter: Meredith Cheston, an experienced presenter with OLLI.

April 19 (B): Evita and Juan Perón: Inventions of History. Eva and Juan Perón have been a constant presence in popular culture, in Argentina and the world. While the most popular account of Eva Perón is the musical Evita, she’s had an unprecedented impact on fiction in the 20th century. Our task will be to distinguish between fact and fiction and investigate how the Peróns invented their history using fictional means.
