U.S. RELATIONS WITH CHINA AND RUSSIA SINCE THE END OF THE COLD WAR

Why have relations between the U.S., China and Russia become so problematic and even antagonistic while Sino-Russian ties have greatly improved in the last decade, posing a serious challenge to the U.S.? These lectures will explore the roots of these developments from the perspective of the three countries and their long-term goals.

Presenter: Dr. Thomas P. Bernstein,
Professor Emeritus, Columbia University. He was a member of the Political Science Department, serving as Chair from 1986-1989 and from l991-l994. He taught courses on Chinese politics, comparative communist systems, and rural politics.
