Immerse yourself in the art and lives of six famous Abstract
Expressionists who were married couples: Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner; Willem and Elaine De Kooning; and Robert Motherwell and Helen Frankenthaler. Participants will learn about Abstract Expressionism, whose roots are in Expressionism, Abstractionism and Surrealism, life in New York City, the capital of the art world in the 1950s, and how women artists were treated differently than the macho men of this movement.

Presenter: Jackie Powell, a popular OLLI lecturer, is a former adjunct professor for numerous colleges and universities in California. Jackie has also lectured for the Bowers Museum and the Merage Jewish Center in Irvine.
