This course is the second installment of a three-year long lecture series, which will trace the development of modern European civilization from the 14th century to the present. This session will examine the epoch known as the Protestant Reformation, which broke with the Catholic Church of the Middle Ages, ushering in a new and dynamic version of Christianity which in turn contributed to the birth of the modern world.

Friday, February 23: Calvinism, Anabaptism, and the Counter-Reformation
Friday, March 2: Protestant roots in the Commercial Revolution of the 17thCentury
