Happiness is an emotional experience with significant cultural, religious, ethnic, social, and interpersonal dynamics. The development of positive psychology during the last 25 years has spawned a renaissance of interest in this topic. This class will explore the concept of happiness from the perspectives of ancient philosophers, world religions, indigenous cultures and contemporary psychologists. Class attendees will have the opportunity to discuss their own ideas about the pursuit and achievement of happiness in dynamic interactive discussions with the presenter and other class participants.
Presenter/Developer: Mel Roth, M.S.W.,
is a retired social worker and social work administrator. He has studied and lectured extensively on the impact of culture and change on human behavior and personality development.
