Even after 400 years, the Bard of Avon still has a lot to say to us. But sometimes, it’s not that easy to understand what he is saying! In this interactive class, we will do a ‘deep-dive’ into two Shakespeare plays, King Lear and a play of the group’s choosing. We will read the plays aloud in sections, and then discuss and analyze the themes, plot, and language with the help of a Ph.D. candidate in Shakespearean studies at UCI.
