iBT TOEFL Test Preparation

The TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is an internet-based test used to demonstrate English language proficiency for academic and professional purposes. Most US colleges and universities accept TOEFL iBT scores for admission purposes.
DCE’s TOEFL iBT Test Preparation Course is an 8-week, 30-hour, in-person course held two evenings each week. This course will help students prepare for a higher score on the TOEFL iBT in the following ways: becoming familiar with the format and content of the TOEFL iBT, practicing effective TOEFL iBT test-taking strategies, learning academic vocabulary and strategies for guessing unfamiliar vocabulary, scanning reading passages for key words in order to answer questions more quickly, discussing how to eliminate wrong answer choices, learning to organize the responses for the speaking tasks, practicing planning and delivering speaking responses in the allotted time for each task, practicing note-taking skills, organizing a 4- or 5-paragraph essay, and practicing sections of the test in the computer lab.
