EECS X491.18

TCP/IP Network Design

The TCP/IP protocol suite has become the foundation and framework for connecting everything from Personal Digital Assistants to supercomputers together in global Enterprise Networks and in The Internet of Things (IoT). In this class we will cover LAN and WAN technologies to IP networks. Discuss upper layer protocols such as TCP/UDP, ICMAP and the use of underlying IP transport mechanism that supports useful network services and how IP addressing and routing allows data to be exchanged in a global network. In addition, special emphasis will be placed on practical IP design and troubleshooting techniques including analyzing network traces and network performance analysis.
