Web App Dev 8: Web Development Projects

Students have an in-depth opportunity to create their own web project to demonstrate their technical learning accomplishments using an API, AJAX, CSS, React and Javascript to build an online portfolio, and get a feel for what working at a technology company as a software engineer is really like.

The course begins with an initial pitch session. Students are tasked with pitching three different app or website ideas that they are passionate about. Instructors take the pitches and then choose the final project that the students work on. Instructors choose projects based on difficulty and feasibility given the time constraints of the course and the instructor serves as a technical product manager for the student. The student works through various milestones to complete the project, with peer and instructor feedback.
