Visual Prototyping (2.00 Units)

Visual prototyping and graphic design are two vital skills all UX and web designers need to know. In this course, students will develop a process for creating a prototype, an early model of a product that allows for design and functionality testing. Discuss what factors to consider when choosing a protoyping tool, how to setup prototypes for an iterative design process, and tips for reaching project goals. Prerequisites: I&C SCI X471.63 Introduction to UX for Web Design.

Introduction to Web Programming with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and React (2.00 Units)
I&C SCI X471.03
This course provides intermediate level knowledge and skills for web development, along with an introduction to basic programming concepts and the three web development languages: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Furthermore, students of this course will learn how to apply these languages to create web-based applications. An introduction to more advanced topics such as prototypal inheritance, software frameworks, and software development tooling will be covered. Prerequisite: Excellent analytical skills; must enjoy using computers and have a knack for figuring things out on the computer.

Web Design Portfolio Project (2.00 Units)

This project-based course pulls together the main concepts from each of the core classes to give students an understanding of the complete process of creating a professional website by working on their own web project. From assessing and creating a design document to creating a wireframe, templates, drafts, and final versions of a website, participants will follow a structured design process to plan and build a professional website. Upon completion of this course, participants will understand the web development process and have a completed website that can serve as part of a professional portfolio. Prerequisites: I&C SCI X471.36 Introduction to UX for Web Design, I&C SCI X450.16 Visual Prototyping, and I&C SCI X471.03 Introduction to Web Programming.
