Overview

The Human Services Management Essentials program prepares professionals to take advantage of leadership opportunities and enhance their personal and professional development. This program is designed to prepare health and human services professionals with the knowledge and resources required to successfully transition from direct services (micro level) to organizational management (macro level). Students will gain a deeper understanding of the factors driving consumer demands and the complex challenges impacting the workforce. They will gain foundational knowledge and develop skills in the areas of administration, budget management, grant and funding development, service integration, strategic planning, and community collaboration. To meet the growing demand for highly skilled human services leaders, this program places emphasis on the development of interpersonal skills and management competencies. Participants are provided with opportunities to assess and test their management aptitude and practice their skills in a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Who Should Enroll

The Human Services Management Essentials program is geared toward professionals seeking advancement or promotion into a management position or those who find themselves in a management or supervisory role at an agency or organization yet have not had formal management training or leadership experience. The information in this certificate program can be applied to the pursuit of advancement in any workplace environment, be it public, private, or non-profit.
